Quick guides
Getting things done.
Back up and restore
In Vellum, open Settings › Ledger › Backup & Restore and tap Back Up. Save the file to iCloud Drive or Files. To restore, choose Restore and pick your backup file. Backups include every entry, card, category, budget and receipt.
Export a statement
Open Settings › Ledger › Export & Statements, or start an export from Insights or Invoices. Choose your cards, the period, and the format, then review and export.
Turn on Face ID
Open Settings › Privacy & Security, turn on App Lock, create a passcode, then turn on Face ID. Then choose how soon Vellum asks again.
Add another card
Open your cards from the Ledger, then tap Add a Card. Choose its name, finish, engraving, currency and optional card details. You can have up to 12.
Restore a purchase
Open Vellum's paywall from Settings and tap Restore. Make sure you're signed in with the Apple ID you used to buy Vellum.
Frequently asked
Good to know.
Does Vellum connect to my bank?
No. Vellum never asks for bank logins and never connects to your accounts. You add entries yourself in a couple of taps, or scan a receipt and let Vellum fill in the details. That keeps your money private and works with any bank, card or cash.
Where is my data stored?
On your iPhone. Your entries, cards, categories and receipts live in the app on your device, and card details sit in the iPhone Keychain. There's no Vellum account and no server holding your records. You can make a backup any time and save it wherever you choose, such as Files or iCloud Drive.
Can I scan receipts and invoices?
Yes. Point your camera and Vellum finds the edges, straightens the page and reads the details, all on your iPhone. Scan several pages at once, or attach photos, PDFs and links to any entry.
Can I export my expenses?
Yes. Export polished PDF statements, Excel workbooks with summaries and charts, CSV files, or every receipt in one tidy folder organised by card, year and month. The Accountant Pack bundles everything into one export.
Does Vellum support more than one currency?
Yes. Each card has its own main currency and can track others alongside it, so a travel card can hold euros and dollars while your everyday card stays in pounds. Indian number formatting (lakhs and crores) is built in too.
How much does Vellum cost?
Vellum Premium is $5.99 a month, $39.99 a year with a 7-day free trial, or $129.99 once for lifetime access (or the local equivalent). You can cancel a subscription any time in your App Store settings.
Can I lock Vellum?
Yes. Protect Vellum with a passcode and Face ID or Touch ID, and choose when it asks again. Balances are always hidden in the app switcher.
How many cards can I add?
Up to 12, each with its own name, finish, engraving and currencies, from personal and business to travel and savings.
How does the free trial work?
Choose the yearly plan to try every feature free for 7 days. We'll send a reminder 2 days before it ends. Cancel any time before the trial ends in your App Store settings and you won't be charged.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Open Settings on your iPhone, tap your name, then Subscriptions, and choose Vellum. Or open Vellum, go to Settings and tap Manage Plan. Cancel at least 24 hours before renewal.
